PAS 2026 Best Undergraduate Student Paper Award

The Population Association of Singapore (PAS) invites undergraduate students to submit papers for the PAS 2026 Best Undergraduate Student Paper Award. This award recognises high-quality undergraduate work in population studies.

Papers may explore any topic related to population and society. Examples include fertility and family life, health and wellbeing, ageing, migration, youth transitions, and intergenerational relations. Other population related topics are also welcome.

The winner will receive a $250 cash prize, complimentary attendance at the PAS 2026 Annual Conference, and a presentation slot at the conference, and be formally recognized for their achievement.

Details:

  • Self-nominations and nominations by undergraduate research supervisors are welcome.

  • Students may submit papers written for their coursework or undergraduate thesis if they meet the eligibility requirements.

  • Undergraduate papers already submitted for the PAS Annual Meeting 2026 may also be considered.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Nominees must be registered as undergraduate students, either full-time or part-time, at the point of submission.

  2. Papers must be primarily authored by the student. If co-authored with a faculty member, a letter from the co-author is required to confirm that the student took the lead for the work.

  3. Only undergraduate students are eligible.

  4. Submitted papers must not be published or accepted for publication at the time of submission. Papers under review are allowed.

  5. Full papers should not exceed 5,000 words of text, excluding references, tables, and figures.

  6. Papers and any required letters should be submitted in PDF format.
